[ggf-ogsa-sec-wg] WG closing down
Marty and I have discussed the status of this working group with the
chairs and the GFSG
and the consensus decision was that we should formally close this
working group and
release the drafts to the authors for their further use/development as
they like.
The drafts have been seminal to the development of the high level
description of security in the OGSA architecture document, of which the
first complete draft was just announced at GGF1 for general discussion.
Work on appropriately incorporating security throughout the OGSA
architecture is currently going on within the OGSA-WG. Frank Seibenlist
and Takuya Mori are leading a design team and those interested in
participating are strongly encouraged to join the OGSA-WG mailing list
and/or contact them. Given the activity and short timeline of the full
OGSA documents, this is the most effective path for integrating
security to the architecture.
Finally, I'd like to thank the authors of the drafts for their work and
point out the value of
such drafts in and of themselves. I am working with the GGF office to
develop a place for
us to circulate/update such drafts in the spirit of the IETF ID
function. This, in conjunction
with the options for individual submission of documents, offers a low
threshold path for exchange of ideas and development of concepts. I
see these drafts as excellent successful examples of such (and the
authors still have the option of pursuing an individual submission).
Regards,
Dane
