[ggf-ogsa-sec-wg] Working towards the WG deliverables: archtitecture and roadmap
Hello WG members:
When we started this WG couple of years back, we had defined the purpose
of the OGSA Security WG (OGSA-Sec) is to enumerate and address the Grid
Security requirements in the context of the OGSA. Given OGSA leverages
Web services, the OGSA security architecture will leverage the Web services
security infrastructure. The primary outcome of the OGSA Security WG were
to be two documents:
- "The Security Architecture
for Open Grid Services": This document will describe a security
architecture intended to be consistent with the security model that is
currently being defined for the Web Services framework used to realize
OGSA's service-oriented architecture.
- "OGSA Security Roadmap":
This document is a roadmap enumerating a set of proposed specifications
to be defined in the Global Grid Forum in order to ensure interoperable
implementations of the OGSA Security Architecture.
At GGF10, we decided that given
the OGSA WG has good amount of activity going on and the OGSA architecture
document is being worked on enthusiastically, it is time to re-start the
activity on working on the security architecture output documents and target
darft of deliverables by GGF11 in June by taking it through the GGF process.
We requested participation and some people volunteered to work on these
documents. The input documents submitted to the WG are in the GridForge
web site: https://forge.gridforum.org/docman2/ViewCategory.php?group_id=59&category_id=293
We need your active participation - reviewing the input documents, providing
comments, contributing new sections, helping write the document etc. Reading
the documents and saying you agree.. by itself is a valid contribution.
Therefore, everyone of you can participate in delivering these documents
as WG documents. We look forward to your support and active participation!
Can you please respond if you are willing to spend time on this effort
and to have a successful collaboration? Some of you expressed your willingness
at the GGF last week by show of hands. If you can send a note confirming
that, it would be good. We need a team of people who can co-author these
documents .. and like we discussed, the input documents are believed to
be a good starting point. We need to decide on timeline, and come
up with an action plan.
Lets keep the momentum going ... lets deliver a set of security architecture
and roadmap documents towards the success of OGSA.
Looking forward to your active participation ...
