GCE: Grid Portals Workshop 5/21/01-5/23/01

All -

One of the items discussed at the Grid Forum meeting last
week was the Grid Portals Workshop which will be held here
at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, on May 21-22, 2001.

The details and agenda still need to be worked out, but at
this meeting we plan to make progress on the proposed portal
architecture discussions, the adoption and integration of
GIS/XML schemas, and the integration of the performance
working group objects that were discussed at GGF1. The
goal will be to arrive at a set of agreed upon standards
that we can include in the white papers that were proposed at
GGF1. The results of this workshop will be discussed at GGF2 in
Washington in July.

>>>> NOTE: This meeting is by "invitation only" <<<<<<
As discussed, this meeting will be limited to portal developers,
and is not a general conference. This is because (1) we want real
workers who can get real work done and (2) space limitations.
This will not be a demo/presentation workshop. We are a small
community, and most of know each other, so identifying who should
attend is not really a problem.

So, please let us know if you are considering attending. If you
represent a project, please also let us know who else you think will
be at this workshop. After we have heard from you, we will have a
registration form ready in a few weeks, with hotel information and
workshop cost (just enough to cover food/etc.). We are just looking
for a rough attendance estimates right now.

Ciao-

PS: If you care to be part of the organizing committee, please
let us know.
