GCE: Dictionary Terms for GGF1
Hello-
The GF Chairs have identified a need to have a cross-group
glossary (for example, GIS has nailed a schema language and
would like to begin to work with other groups to define standard
objects and definitions of terms, while both sched and perf are
working on documents for common terms). It was decided that
this would be a good outcome of GGF. This is actually right
in line with one of my goals for organizing GCE --> using our
perspective to drive Grid Information Services and objectclass
definitions.
The issue at hand is not to argue about contentious or
general terms (e.g. we don't want a 2 hour debate on what is a
"process") but rather to look for areas where a particular group
can provide definitions to another group (where the receiving
group doesn't so much care what is the definition, but is more
interested in that there is an agreed upon definition).
The homework we need to do in the meantime is to try to come
up with a list of terms we'd like to define (NOT define them
yet), and which groups are interested in which terms.
So please send me a list of terms that you think need to be
defined.
*** I need to complete a GCE list by 2/15 ******
Thanks - Mary
