Hi Mary,
doesn't this completely collide with the Science Gateways workshop to
which myself and other people working on/interested in portals are
committed to go and give presentations ?
Yes, unfortunately the scheduling overlap is a problem. Marlon has been
talking to the coordinators about moving the sessions, but we have not
had any success. We will keep talking to them.

Hi Mary--
Can you please post this to GCE-RG to make sure that it goes through?

GCE GGF 14 Agenda
Hi All--
We will be reorganizing the GCE Research Group at GGF14 in Chicago.
Meeting times are 10-11:30 am and 12:00-1:30 pm on Tuesday.
Session 1: Portals
June 28, 10am - 11:30am
Room: Michigan
1) Re-establish community through a portal developer survey. This
will
be a follow-on to our initial survey kickoff from 2001: a lot has
changed, particularly portlets, underlying grid foundations. This
will
result in a GGF informational document.
2) Advertise, plan SC05-concurrent Grid Portals workshop. This will
feature peer-reviewed extended abstracts.
3) Re-establish GCE connections to other GGF groups with
complementary
efforts.
4) Spawn Working Group to write the a GGF Informational Document,
"Building a Grid Portal: a Beginner's Guide to Technologies,
Standards,
and Best Practices"
Session 2: Other GCEs
June 28th, 12-1:30pm
Room: Gove
There has been significant work to build alternative other user
environments: Grid desktops, shells, and scripting languages. This
session will focus on attempting to establish communications between
various efforts. The TACC Grid Shell effort, Community Grid Lab's
HPSearch scripting, and the CoG grid desktop are three examples.
1) Catalog and classification efforts: create a GGF info document on
various non-portal and extended portal GCE efforts.
2) Spawn a Working Group to cover the following topics: lessons
learned
from portals--how to build reusable GCE components; how to
integrate/share components between web portal and desktop efforts.
Agenda comments are welcome. We hope to see you there!
